A young Minnesota man is now facing serious criminal charges after a recent police investigation. The man is accused of multiple drug crimes, which could lead to severe consequences should prosecutors obtain a conviction. He is likely now looking into the legal options available for his defense with the aid of an attorney.
According to police, an undercover investigation led them to obtain a warrant to search the man’s home. Authorities report that they detained the man and allegedly discovered a large amount of marijuana, including nearly 2 lbs. packaged for sale, along with packaging materials and a small amount of cocaine. Officers also believe that the man was selling the drugs to high school students.
The man is now facing three felony counts of possession and sale of drugs. These charges include a fourth-degree felony for marijuana sales and two fifth-degree counts of possession of marijuana and cocaine. These charges could result in up to 15 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. Police stated that he declined to be interviewed and has since acquired a lawyer.
Anyone charged with similar drug crimes, or any crime for that matter, would likely benefit from consulting an experienced Minnesota criminal defense attorney. An attorney could help an individual better understand the charges and work toward ensuring the person’s legal rights are protected. Additionally, a lawyer could aid in building a strong defense to present before the court as well as provide guidance and support throughout the legal proceedings and any future related litigation that may occur.
