Roundabouts are structures used in Minnesota and other areas of the world that are believed to help with the flow of traffic. However, they can be confusing for those who have little experience with them. Unfortunately, one man now faces multiple criminal charges, including DWI, after he was allegedly involved in an accident in a roundabout.
The incident reportedly happened on a day in late May. According to reports, a 38-year-old man driving a recreation vehicle drove through the roundabout before driving into a ditch. Witnesses claim that the man then fled the scene on foot before being stopped by a rescue worker.
The man originally claimed that someone else was driving the RV; however, witnesses claim that there was no one else at the scene, and the man was reportedly unable to provide a full name. Police said that the man admitted to consuming alcohol and methamphetamine prior to the accident. His blood alcohol content, according to reports, was over the legal limit, and he had methamphetamine in his possession.
In addition to the felony DWI charge, the man is also charged with driving after license cancellation and drug possession. Reports claim that the Minnesota man has six previous convictions related to driving while intoxicated, the last one occurring in 2014.
