When Minnesota residents are accused of crimes, they may be unaware of the various legal avenues available to them. To help better understand the criminal charges they may face and receive guidance on their next steps, those accused would likely benefit from obtaining the services of experienced attorneys. One man is likely considering his legal options after allegedly shooting and killing his friend.

Authorities claim that the man was drinking at an apartment with two friends when the incident occurred. According to a witness, the victim began playing with a handgun. When the witness looked away, he heard a gunshot and looked back to see the victim collapse on the floor after claiming that the other man shot him. The man accused of firing the gun allegedly stated that he did not know a bullet was in the chamber.

Police reports said that the accused man stated in an interview that he tried taking the gun away from the victim by grabbing his wrist and turning it toward the victim when the gun went off. However, they say that he later acknowledged that he alone was holding the gun when it went off. He is being charged with second-degree manslaughter.

Whenever a person is accused of committing a crime, he or she would likely benefit from consulting an experienced Minnesota criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. This could allow an individual to work with an attorney to build a strong defense to present before the court. Anyone facing criminal charges could contact an attorney for more information and guidance.
