Woman suspected of DWI after Minnesota crash

Any driver who uses the roadway is likely aware of the potential of being involved in a car accident. Unfortunately, even the most experienced, careful drivers can sometimes find themselves momentarily distracted or in an unfamiliar area that may make it difficult for them to fully understand the flow of traffic. Despite the many different potential causes of an accident, police in Minnesota and across the country are often quick to assume that alcohol was a factor. In fact, a young woman is suspected of DWI following a recent crash.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. on a day in late June. Police have accused a 21-year-old woman who was driving a pickup truck of failing to yield while headed west on a Minnesota road. This allegedly resulted in a collision with a sports utility vehicle that is said to have T-boned the pickup truck.

The drivers of both vehicles were injured in the incident. Additionally, three occupants of the SUV were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The younger was taken into custody, suspected of driving while intoxicated.

Despite the allegations of DWI, it is unclear what led Minnesota law enforcement officers to suspect that the woman was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Regardless of what some may believe may be the cause of an accident due to a driver's age or the time of day it occurred, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Because the criminal justice system can be daunting, many people facing criminal charges want someone who is knowledgeable about the process by their side as they respond to the allegations against them.
