There are a variety of different people who utilize Minnesota roadways. While some people drive for personal reasons, others require the roads for commercial purposes, such as transporting large loads. Unfortunately, a man now faces several criminal charges after his use of a road to haul a large load allegedly led to two deaths.

The incident happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. on a day in July. According to reports, a boulder weighing over 1,000 pounds rolled out of the back of a truck, striking a sedan. When police arrived at the scene, they reportedly discovered the vehicle on the shoulder of the road.  Two women in the sedan, a 67-year-old woman and her 32-year-old daughter, died as a result.

Police say that surveillance footage show a truck pass a nearby business with what appears to be an unsecured load of boulders. The truck allegedly stopped a short distance away in a driveway where a witness claims to have seen the driver strapping boulders down before returning to the roadway. Police claim they were able to identify the man they believe was driving the truck through a contractor who allegedly helped load the boulders.

The man is now facing multiple criminal charges, including criminal vehicular homicide. While the desire to hold someone accountable following an accident such as this is understandable, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt for someone to be convicted. Because of the serious nature of the accusations against the Minnesota man, he may want an experienced criminal defense attorney by his side as he responds to them.
