Authorities search for Minnesota woman facing criminal charges

People often react to news in ways that may seem contrary to expectations. Unfortunately, when someone feels that his or her life may be in danger, for example, reactions are centered more around self-preservation than calling authorities. Officials in Minnesota are now looking for a woman who faces criminal charges and is considered a person of interest in her husband’s murder even though many of the details regarding the man’s death are unclear.

The body of her deceased 54-year-old husband was reportedly discovered on a day in late March. Reports indicate he suffered from several gunshot wounds. In addition to being considered a person of interest in her husband’s death, the woman is also charged with felony theft.

Officials claim that the woman transferred $10,000 from the business accounts of her husband into her personal accounts. She then, allegedly, moved $11,000 to her own account. It is requested that anyone with information regarding her whereabouts either call the U.S. Marshals Service or 911.

The information printed in these types of news stories is often one-sided, representing only information provided by Minnesota law enforcement officials. In all cases, a person is presumed not guilty unless he or she is convicted in a criminal court. To be convicted, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt — a standard that is purposefully set up in order to prevent wrongful convictions. An experienced attorney can help the woman respond to the criminal charges she faces in addition guiding her through the questioning process that she likely faces regarding her husband’s death.
